System Settings -> Lock Screen -> Start Screen Saver when inactive -> Never

If that is grayed out, then it would indicate you system is being managed by your company and they are forcing you to lock your screen after 'n' minutes of idle time (which is what my company does to me).

In my case, unless I take steps to prevent it, my screen turns off, and my Mac goes to sleep, which breaks the VPN connection into work.

Amphetamine is a popular 3rd party app that prevents the Mac from going to sleep.

I did not like the switch from system preferences to settings, but I understood the reasoning. The iPhone drives business to the Mac, and anything the makes that easier increases sales. And that means we will have future Macs we can buy 💸

I frequently use the system settings search box, and then work backwards to describe the path for others to follow 😁
