Automator Script to Insert Date Just Inserts "..."

I created an Automator script as described here.

System-wide Insert Date in number only fo… - Apple Community

When I run it it Automator, it works fine.

I created the shortcut, and when I press the key combination I assigned (alt-semicolon) it inserts just three periods.

I tried it on Numbers, Mail and Safari, and it only puts the three periods.

Any suggestions?

Running Ventura.

The option+semi-colon is the operating system shortcut to insert an ellipsis … in a text field. Change your keyboard shortcut to something unused by macOS or the Numbers application.

Of course, one can create a custom data format in Numbers for the yyyy/mm/dd format and set that format for the cell(s) that are to receive the current date. Then use the Numbers now() function to automatically insert the current date in the cell.
