Updates for iPhone 8 Plus after iOS17 As per the WEEE guidelines, (waste from electrical and electronic equipment) it is environmentally friendlier to continue using your current phone rather than discarding it to upgrade to a latest model. I like my device and don’t want to upgrade. Will Apple continue releasing security updates at least after releasing iOS17 which won’t be compatible with iPhone 8 plus and prior models? If no does that mean it is not safe to continue using the iphone? How can I campaign to raise awareness for Apple to consider releasing security updates at the least for all prior models.

You can update an iPhone 8 Plus to the latest release of iOS 16. You cannot update it to iOS 17 or later.

So basically, you wil get security updates for however long Apple releases them for iOS 16.

September 2026-2027 depending on which version of the iPhone 8 Plus that you have.
