E-Sim not supported STUCK on new set up

Im a Sales Representative for a Cell Phone carrier. Customer bought a phone by Verizon and got told the phone was unlocked out of the gate. He is with Metro PCS and some way some how when transferring all his stuff the E-Sim he had on his 14 went to the 16. Well on the welcome screen with all the languages and after the wifi process it says E-Sim not supported. How is it possible that Apple with all this Apple Intelligence stuff doesn't have a way to remove the sim not supported? Is there a way to remove it? We have tried restoring the phone and the Sim is not getting removed. Yes I have read all the articles and none of them help. Any help? Asking for a friend.

This is a carrier issue, they control which carrier uses the phone, Apple cannot interfere with this. It's not about Apple not having the technology to change it, it boils down to the legality aspect.

Phone companies will often subsidize the cost (or part of the cost) of the phone to sweeten the deal and draw in customers. If carrier A gave someone a free (or reduced price) phone for signing up for their service, then the customer dropped them and went to carrier B, carrier A would lose money. Multiply this by several thousand phones and they would loose millions. That's why phones get locked to the carrier the phone was purchased from.
