How to Retrieve Final Cut Pro on Mac

I got my mom's old laptop and recently wanted to retrieve Final Cut Pro that she had previously purchased from a few years back. Now, the issue is that whenever I try to update the application, it would go back to the old Apple ID that my mom was using to purchase Final Cut Pro, despite me updating the whole Apple ID of my own to this laptop. Does anyone have any idea how to do this? Any support will be appreciated. I would also like to note that we do not have access to my mom's old Apple ID anymore as she has changed into a new one as well. Thanks!

Since she originally purchased it, if she has a friend with a current version she could ask them for a copy.

Your mom might also try contacting the AppleStore to see if there's a way to update her FCP with her old AppleID if she remembers the password. I don't know, just throwing out ideas.

Of course you can always keep using the FCP version that's on the machine. That should work until you upgrade the MacOS to a point where the FCP version won't run anymore. What FCP version is it? What MacOS version?
