Texing on iPad using an email address

Hi, I'm looking to get an iPad and link to my Apple ID. My daughter is only 9 and doesn't have a phone of her own yet although some of her friends have set up a texting group on their iPads.

Is there a way I can set her up with an email and Apple ID so she can message her friends but also use the iPad for myself, using my own texts messages on there?

I'd like to use the normal functions like FaceTime, texting etc but hoping I can set her up as well without having to use my number for her text chats.

Thanks in advance

iPads are single user devices. You can't use 2 Apple accounts on a single iPad for iMessage texting or FaceTime. Only one at a time can be logged in for each service.

You can set up an email and download an app to access her email account separate from yours if you want.

But beyond that, the messaging and face time accounts can only be one at a time, and you would need to keep signing in and out of them in Settings, which will be very cumbersome.

The real question, is what kind of texting group are the friends using on their iPads.

Are they using a specific 3rd party app? Or just the regular Messages app?

If using a 3rd party app, you can likely set up her own account in the specific 3rd party App, separate from whatever is logged in, in Settings for Messages and FaceTime.
