Apple Mail IP Blacklisted from Xfinity / Comcast

When I try to check my email using the Apple Mail client I get a message "Temporarily blacklisted IP Address - try again later" yet when I check via my browser everything is fine. I have to think this is an Apple Client issue since the IP address is exactly the same for both the client vs the web browser.

Any ideas how to fix?

When you login to the web mail, make sure you are allowing Third Party Access:

  • Click the gear icon in the upper right of your Web Mail
  • Click Email Settings
  • Choose Security tab
  • Make sure there is a checkbox on Third Party Access.

If you were using the web interface, then the client would be the web server.

If you have access to a VPN, maybe even Apple Private Relay, it may work. You can also try turning off your ISP modem for a couple of minutes. That may get you a new IP address.
