IPAD 10 SUDDENLY REJECTING A DOUBLE COUPLER USB C (AUDIO/PWR)II

I've had the ipad running for weeks w.o a problem. I took the ipad to a different room then came back and upon plug in, it was a 1 sec. beep, battery not charging condition.

It apears Appple doesn't have any of their own 'brand' or design to take 1 and make 2 outputs. How am I going to be able to hook up external speakers AND keep poower on/chcarging?

Perhaps consider using a USB-C hub with USB PD (Power Delivery) pass-through charging for the iPad - and connect a USB-C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter to one of the hub's USB-C ports.

  • USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter

There are many third-party USB Hubs that have a USB-C connection for iPad or other host computer - plus a USB-C PD power connector to which you can connect your USB-C Power Adapter - along with the hub itself incorporating a combination of additional USB-C ports, USB 2.0/3.1 Type-A ports, Ethernet LAN, HDMI, VGA, SD and microSD card-readers - and in some cases a 3.5mm analog audio/headphone jack.

Perhaps consider Kingston, Anker, Hyperdrive and Satechi - although there are many others from which to choose. A Google Search for USB-C Hubs compatible with iPad will find a number of articles and recommendations.

  1. It seems a bit telling that I can't find a adapter in any format carrying BOTH the 3.5mm jack AND the USB c output. That by itself makes me suspicious that Apple has some sort of sensing in their ipods sensisitive enough to dislike any drop in distribution out of the ipad's sole connector-I am not an engineer, so would not have the ability/tools to prove/disprove this-though I have read other complainants here (using slightly diff. connectors).
  2. Unfortunately, you're mentioning a LOT of aftermarket stuff (your first link is dead, btw).

I only see Belkin sold in stores, which is what would be easiest for me-"drag" the ipad in, have them open a box or at least watch me plug in mini speakers AND power supply (uggh!), and see if it makes the dreaded 'blurp, blurp".

3 Don't get me wrong..I usually buy plenty of aftermaker 'kit' and both wireless charger plates AND the less popular (now) battery cases for iphones can bring on this itnermitten warning sound/no charge. I watch my wife every so often trying to move her phone onto the Q charger plate, and it clearly produces a 'mind of its own' about when it will actually SHUT UP and charge.

In the end, 'what would Apple sell" re. connector hubs or wires seems to be the most expensive but also LESS disturving choice, bleep noise minimization-wise1

The public is incidentally buying fewer iphones since the 15 came out. I am aware of lots of folks dislliking the lack of 3.5mm jacks anyway-perhaps unrelated...but I have a sneaking suspicion that, in a few years, there will be no USB-C or Lightning/Thunderbolt connectors on their devices, owing to love of wirelessness being "the future". Perhaps what that "bleep" about my using parasitic couplers is about..their engineers want me using wifi or bluetooth even for a 440 SET OF DESKTOP POWERED SPEAKERS, rather than wiring em'/1

Just my deflated 5 cents tho. Thanks for your reply, though which "hub" brand is your fav?

John-nr. Boston, aka 'the hub" (among other things).

p.s THIS msg. is probably wirelessly edited by A.I (or will be mandated, soon, so watch your hands, err.. wires!).

Curious; the link (tested before posting) works fine for me.

Satechi (a well respected brand) had a 3.5mm audio adapter with USB PD, but discontinued the item earlier this year. Here is link to an EU website; it may still be available from some online retailers in other countries:

There are similar third-party Adapters, but not all will necessarily be compatible with Apple devices.
