How to unhide iCloud files?

I have started using iCloud to sync files in my documents and desktop as I switch between various computers in different offices. However, it very annoyingly, keeps hiding files which means I have to use command+shift+. to view (these are not system files but data such as documents, spreadsheets, photos etc). Is there a way to unhide all of these and stop it happening?

I can't duplicate this. Does an invisible Excel file open as usual? Does it stay hidden when you save it? Does it stay hidden if you duplicate (⌘-D) the file? If you drag a file from iCloud Drive folder to another folder (it should disappear from the iCloud Drive folder,) is it still hidden? If you control click a hidden file and get a pop-up menu, does it look the same as for a normal file?

If it's possible to get unhidden copies, I'd start replacing the hidden ones.

So weird.

I've heard of this, but I'm not sure if I've seen it. What files are being hidden? Do they have anything in common?

I looked for hidden files in my iCloud Folder, but all I found were aliases to other "aliases" to folders back in the iCloud Folder. Kinda weird. (I put quotes around the second "aliases" because it isn't a normal alias, or something.) I imagine if I moved some files around, I might be left with orphaned aliases.

If you do a ⌘-i Info Window for these hidden files, what do you see?
