Please help me I need to submit my video now! I created a srt caption file but FCPX keeps showing the above message. Could anyone help me check what's wrong with this file? This isn't the full file but is just for testing. I've removed all the extra space 😭

Ok, problem solved...
the file is indeed incorrectly formattted, but the fix is easy:
Each timing line like this:
00:00:38,000 - -> 00:00:40,000
Has a space between the dashes that should not be there.
Do a global find and replace:
Find: - ->
Replace with: -->
