1) what is that key in the lower left corner (with a globe icon) and how do I use it?
The globe key allows you to switch between different language keyboards or bring up the emoji keyboard. When pressed, it cycles through the installed keyboards you have on your iPad. You can also hold the globe key to show the keyboard selector, where you can choose your input method or emoji.
2) is there any equivalent on this keyboard which performs the same function as the Escape key on a regular keyboard.
The Magic Keyboard doesn’t have a dedicated Escape key, but you can configure a key to act as the Escape key. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard, then select Modifier Keys. Here, you can remap a key, such as the globe or caps lock key, to function as the Escape key.
3) is there any way to get this keyboard to recognize normal keyboard shortcuts for cut (ctrl-x), copy (ctrl-c), and paste (ctrl-v)?
These key combinations would typically be used with a Windows PC, not a Mac.
On the iPad, the same principle applies as on macOS. Instead of using Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, and Ctrl-V, you’ll use the Command (⌘) key for these actions, so it’s Command-X, Command-C, and Command-V for Cut, Copy, and Paste.
