Contacts slow and spinning wheel on Mac OS but not on IOS

For the past 3 years, my Contacts app goes into slow mode with spinning wheel for 30 secs up to 1 minute.

IOS17 and now IOS18 has no issue. iMac and MacBook Air M2 have the same problem.

I have now installed the new Sequoia 15 and still the same.

Why has this bug not been fixed after so many reports from others also.

We should not have to turn off iCloud sync or try other work arounds. Apple needs to find a permanent fix.
