Drag and drop not working on macOS Sequoia.

I am having the same issue. I try and drag items from the finder, either one or more than one selected and it acts like I am trying to select multiple items instead. i.e. the mouse rolls over the items int he finder window selecting and unselecting them instead of picking them up and dragging them if that makes sense.

Ah, Safe Mode has worked. Thanks again for the suggestion.

I'm having the same issue. I click on any item in finder, and it only selects things. If I select multiple things with shift clicks, and then try to drag them elsewhere, it acts like i'm still holding shift still.

Naturally, "haptic feedback" is a feature of the trackpad built into every mac laptop, so when using a mouse it does not show. That is to be expected.

Are you saying that you also have problems with drag and drop, when using the mouse?

Correct. I can select a file icon, but cannot drag it at all. Nor drag a song file onto the Music list to play it.

As a side note, I am remoting to work using Citrix to a Windows system, and D&D works fine there.

This is a 2 year old macbook, so I guess it has always had haptic ability.

It was magically switched on with a recent OS upgrade. I didn't ask for

this aggravation. Delighted that normal behavior was restored by disabling

it after whatever turned it on. And now I know where to look when Apple

breaks it again.

I've tried everything under the sun and still nothing has worked for me. Restarting, shutting down my computer, turning my controls on and off, but nothing. For context, I updated my computer to IOS 15.4 Sequoia about a week ago and that's when this problem started (I have read that's where most of everyone's issues have also started because of updating my Mac.) Before updating my computer it worked perfectly fine.

The drag-and-drop works for everything else except for my Safari downloads. I'm a college student so I use PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Finder often so that my assignments don't get lost, and I'm a very organized person. Since the update, I have had to manually open each file and change it to my OneDrive account, and from there I can drop it into the file once it has appeared in Finder. This just adds another step that may seem small, but when I'm trying to add multiple files into the correct place at once it becomes a major headache when trying to do homework. Please if anyone has any other solutions please please please let me know!

FWIW, I don't recommend waiting for an update to bring a fix. try the the various proposed solutions in this thread.

Some corrupted setting or cache is playing a part, and that can't be fixed by an update.

Also, while this is certainly aggravating, most users are not seeing the problem, or this thread would have exploded already.
