Bluetooth on iPhone 16 Pro not recognizing other devices

I just bought a 16pro and now I can’t connect to any of my devices *except* other Apple devices. My Echo dots won't connect to or even recognize my phone. I've tried turning off/disconnecting/forgetting/reconnecting; resetting all network settings; everything and every way to try to connect via bluetooth…no love. Anybody resolve this in a way I haven't tried already?

Here’s what worked for me. I noticed in the Alexa app that my iPhone was listed twice. I guess when I transferred data from the old phone it gave the new one the same name. Old phone had been deactivated. So, I changed the name of my phone (settings >general>about>name, tap x, enter new name, tap done)

Next with Bluetooth on and open I asked echo to pair, it replied it could couldn't find it but at that point the echo device showed up in the Bluetooth list. I tapped the device on the list and it paired. Worked with all 3 of my echo devices.

Hi guys,

I had the same problem today. But I noticed when I opened my iPhone (16pro) Bluetooth settings it says "this phone is discoverable whilst Bluetooth settings is open"

I couldn't access Alexa app without closing the iPhone' Bluetooth settings so, as a workaround, I left Bluetooth settings open on my iPhone, then used an old Android device to open the Alexa app and presto! My iphone was visible!

So yeah, if you have another device with the Alexa app, I'd suggest leaving iPhone 16 bluetooth settings open, then opening the Alexa device Bluetooth settings via another device.

Worked for me anyway - playing music from my phone via Alexa studio right now!

I had the same frustrating problem and finally called Amazon. They weren't as friendly as Apple representatives, but in this case, more helpful. They had me update the Alexa app on my phone, then in that app choose the speaker I want to pair with, and while the Alexa app was trying to find that speaker go into Bluetooth in my iPhone settings and voila! The speaker showed up, and I was able to pair to it.

I had the same problem and tried a combo of what a few of you suggested:

  • I changed the name of my iPhone in General so it would be recognized as a new device by my echos.
  • in my Bluetooth settings, I selected my echo devices and clicked “Forgot Device”
  • I deleted my Alexa App

Doing a combination of these (in no particular order) somehow let my iPhone connect.

I ended up in the Alexa app, deleting my old cell phone from Devices, and also Forgetting echo device in Bluetooth, unplugged and restarted everything, then reconnected everything… and did that TWICE and somehow magically got my echo studio to connect. I haven’t done it for the others in the house… but something is definitely glitchy with order of operations. Super annoying because Bluetooth settings would say “connected” but nothing would happen.

Same problem (iPhone 16 not connecting with Alexa Echo Studio-ON2) but it works now! Here is what I did after doing all the unplugging and restarting with no results:

Called “Amazon Customer Service” at 1.866.216.1072 and immediately spoke with an Amazon customer service person who asked to share my screen (i begrudgingly let her). She walked me through a bunch of steps that included de-registering the Alexa device so it was back to factory settings. Sorry I didn’t write down the steps but the phone number connects to someone who can help.

I, too, cannot connect my iPhone 16 Pro to my Amazon devices. I have "paired" it in that it my Echo Studio shows up in the list of devices on my phone, but if I try to connect it, it fails. If I open my Alexa app, my phone shows up in the list of paired devices, but also will not connect to the phone.

I can pair without problem to my Alpine stereo in the truck, and I can pair to Jabra and Bose wireless headphones. The only device I'm having a problem with is Amazon smart speakers.
