Spotlight search icons missing after update

After updating to macOS 15, the app icons no longer show up on the right side of the Spotlight search bar.

I have attached a picture to highlight what's missing.

Is this a bug, or a feature that came with the new update?

It seems like this could be a bug introduced with the macOS 15 update. Try restarting your Mac or rebuilding the Spotlight index by going to System Settings > Siri & Spotlight > Privacy, and re-adding your main drive. If the issue persists, it’s likely a software bug that may require a future update.

Guys, I was facing the same issue as soon as I installed MacOS Sequoia on MacBook Pro M1. I found the solution.

The App that is not searchable on spotlight.. Open Applications >> Select the App >> Show Package Contents. The App immediately gets indexed for Spotlight. Weird, but it works :)

Kudos to the developer who introduced the bug and to the one who found the solution!

With Apple, what is past is no guarantee of prolog.

They can change anything they like without notifying users of that change. Like dialabrain, I cannot remember where these icons were located in Sonoma (which I no longer have installed) since the icon was visually useless to me anyway. In Ventura 13.7, the icon is located on the right as you depict above.

Don't expect Apple to regress and put the icon back where it used to be…
