Ok, now you’ve cleared the hurdles. Yes, gift cards can be used to purchase an iPhone. If the balance on the card is high enough it will cover the cost of the iPhone and the sales tax. Tax will be charged for the state the iPhone is being shipped to. You cannot use Apple Gift Card to purchase Apple Care.

If you’re not purchasing Apple Card, it may not be a big deal. However, if you are, it may work in an Apple Store in US, but not online. You can call 1-800-MY-APPLE and confirm the use of your Apple Gift Card.

Gift cards are specific to the country or region they are purchased in. What country is your friend in and what country are you in?
I will buy the IPhone in the US Online Apple Store, so that should not be a problem, the issue would be if beside the gift card I also need to include a debit/credit card in the payment process. Cause I only have Argentina ones. And they are nos valid ones because of the billing address.
Is the gift card from the US? In other words if someone in Argentina buys a gift card, the gift card can only be redeemed in Argentina. It won’t work in the online US Apple Store.

Yes I do, I just don’t have a US credit/debit card. Just the gift cards I will receive to buy the iPhone .
