When viewing photos in Apple Photos they are sorted by date but they are showing up in random time sequence. Is there a way of ensuring that they show up in sequence of when taken? The images are from 3 different iPhones, all were synched with local time in the country in which we were travelling (or traveling, for our North American relations).

It's usually time zones that cause the problem. Different cameras may handle time zones differently in their metadata. You may be able to use Search to round up pictures from the same camera, select them, and in the "More" icon,
use the "Adjust Date & Time" feature to change the time of all the pictures by the same amount. You'll see the new time there, but all the pictures you selected will be changed by the same increment. Just decide which camera is best, and change the others to match.
On a trip to Ireland before cameras had GPS, it took awhile to sync up pictures from 4 cameras. Good luck!
