Employee left company and Apple Locked AppleID and cannot reset

Good Day All

Previous employee left the company in 2023 Mac was handed to new employee without changing apple IDs

The Macbook pro gave problems so it was handed to our IT department to wipe Now it asks for Activation lock , I have the email address and password but it says the Apple Account or password is incorrect. Tried logging in via the website and it says its locked and takes me to the reset page where it says his Apple Account is not valid or not supported. This is a problem

Take the purchase receipt with you to the Apple store and see what they can do for you.

Then your Office administrator will need to write up a policy that when an employee leave or is terminated they need to erase the device with an IT person present.
