Has anyone recently received a text supposedly from Apple, as a security alert?

Has anyone recently received a text purported to be from Apple as a security alert? I am definitely not foolish enough to fall for this scam, but want to alert others. The contents of the text are as follows:

[Apple Security Alert]

We have noticed that your Apple id was recently used at \"APPLE STORE\" for $143.95, paid by Apple Pay Pre Authorization. Also some suspicious sign in request and apple pay activation request detected. That looks like suspicious to us. In order to maintain the security and privacy of your account we have placed those request on hold.  If NOT you? Please Call +1 ***-***-**84 to talk to an Apple Representative. Failing may lead to auto debit and charge will not be reversed. Call  +1 ***-***-**84 immediately to cancel this charge.

These, the endemic AT&T phishing for those caught in the AT&T breach, the “pervert” creative-fiction spam, all sorts of junk is around.

If that’s a cut-and-paste of the actual text, that’s just filled with typos and phrasing errors.

Which typically means scam.

Typos and trademark errors in actual Apple materials are very rare.

And it would be your bank flagging a suspicious transaction, not Apple.

And banks don’t release a transaction until you talk with them, and banks can usually claw back fraudulent payments, so this whole scenario is false.

If Apple is actually holding up something, you’ll see a 🔴 on some Apple payment-related app, too.

To research the contents of a questionable message, you can use DuckDuckGo or another search engine to check (for instance) the phone number.

Sending email addresses and sending phone numbers and sending SMS text numbers can be spoofed / faked / forged. I was receiving messages “from” a good friend, due to scammers working from a Yahoo breach. Those were easy to spot for me, due to the friend’s death.

Phone callers also routinely lie and scam, too. Student loans, arrest warrants, relatives needing bail, back taxes, fund drives for charities, all sorts of scams.

The AT&T phishing campaign is actually done well. This spam scam, given the errors, not so much.
