Hey! I’m a medical student and I made a scientific article about sleep. Why in the app “Sleep” do we have only four phases? Because we know about two phases and five stages.

I regularly use my Apple Watch Series 7 with the Sleep app to track my sleep. I am not sure why the app shows stages “awake”, “REM”, “Core” and “Deep”, while in scientific literature, stages N1, N2, N3, REM and Awake are typically described in PubMed.

Apple Watch Series 7, watchOS 10
