It's driving me crazy. It's got to the point where I'll have to re-open the app, scroll down to the article again and reopen it 3 or 4 times to get to the end of an article. I've tried updating the OS, turning off notifications and background app updates and nothing is regularly working.

I'm not sure this would work: Delete the News app (you will lose all your customizations, though) and download it again from the App Store.
Before doing this, try to update your iPad to iPadOS 18.0.1 which has just been published.

Thank you. It was a rude cure, but at least the app doesn't seem to be crashing every 30 seconds.
It'll suck, but I'll get it to rebuild my preferences over time. Thank you very much for your help.
