Mac won't shut down

My iMac won't shut down because "Google Chrome failed to quit." I tried Command Q several times, I tried to right click the Chrome icon and click "quit," there is no response from Google Chrome.

What should I do to properly shut down the iMac without ruining the hard disk?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Select Apple > Force Quit.. or use Option-Command-Esc, then highlight Chrome and hit the Force Quit button.

Occasionally it does not hurt your to hold the Power Button for 10 seconds to turn off a Mac.

If you are having numerous issues with Chrome, then I suggest uninstalling it and using Safari, FireFox or Brave.
