Hostname resolution fails, but nslookup is OK.

Since the upgrade to Sequoia, my macbook has started failing to find DNS results.

And then refuses to do anything with that host. A couple of days ago I noticed it github wasn't resolving. Now this:

[max.allan@Maxs-MacBook-Pro adapter (main)]$ nslookup my.bt.com
Server:		fe80::46fe:3bff:fe2d:eb1f%16
Address:	fe80::46fe:3bff:fe2d:eb1f%16#53

Non-authoritative answer:

[max.allan@Maxs-MacBook-Pro adapter (main)]$ curl https://my.bt.com
curl: (6) Could not resolve host: my.bt.com
[max.allan@Maxs-MacBook-Pro adapter (main)]$ dscacheutil -q host -a name my.bt.com
[max.allan@Maxs-MacBook-Pro adapter (main)]$ curl https://my.bt.com
curl: (6) Could not resolve host: my.bt.com
[max.allan@Maxs-MacBook-Pro gitlab]$ dns-sd -q  my.bt.com

dns-sd just seems to hang, no response at all for many minutes. dscacheutil takes an age to come back with no response. The nslookup responds instantly.

Can't browse to my.bt.com or github.com at all. Other sites seem to be OK but maybe I just haven't hit the other ones that aren't OK yet.

Last time this happened I ended up rebooting soon after, but it's going to get inconvenient to reboot in the middle of working every few days.

I never had any problems before the Sequoia upgrade. I have standard DNS settings in my WiFi settings, I haven't overridden the ISP provided options and my WiFi connection is completely stable, I have no other network issues.

Any suggestions?

Standard Sequoia network debugging procedure:

1) System Settings > Network > Wifi > Private WiFi Address = "fixed"

2) Disable all network firewalls and filters

3) Disable all 3rd party "security" or "privacy" apps

4) Go back and try 2 and 3 again. Yes. I also meant "Little Snitch" and similar.
