Copying Read Only CD (for PERSONAL use only)

Good morning. Wondering if anyone knows if there is a safe software for a MAC, or something on the MAC, that will allow me to copy a read only cd? This would be for PERSONAL USE ONLY - I am not looking to copy CDs and distribute, simply put the files in a folder that I can access via my phone so I could watch / listen anywhere (vs being tied to my MAC with the driver that reads the CDs to watch what is on them.)

Not ultra tech savvy so grateful for any insights (that are clear so I actually follow them! :)

Thanks!

All files written to CD are read only. The CD disk itself may be writeable and/or eraseable *IF* it's a CD/RW and it was not closed (finalized) after burning.

If the CD contains data files you can just use the Finder to copy them to your Mac.

If the CD has video files (e.g. QuickTime or MP4 videos) you can also use the Finder to copy them.

If it's an audio CD you can use iTunes/Music to copy the songs to your Mac.

If necessary, the file permissions can be changed to read/write on your Mac. But this is only necessary if you intend to modify (edit) the files after copying them to your Mac.

DVD & BluRay are a different matter but there are ways to transfer DVD/BluRay movies to your Mac.

How about if you tell us exactly what's on the CD ... what kind of files ... and is the "CD" a commercial product or is it a CD that you burned yourself?

Books are only on CDs, audio CDs. I have copied over 50 of my own audio books to my iMac with Audiobook Builder. It rips each CD in the book into the audiobook format. It then imports them into the Books library that began with Ventura (not 100% sure if Ventura or before).

Then I sync them with my iPhone with the Findere and play the with the app Speed-Up. Another app for playing audiobooks on an iPhone is MP3 Audiobook Player.

I also have an app, iCloudLibrary, which can download eResource audiobook from my public library to listen to. You need a library card for the library. Each library system may use a different app.

I appreciate this so much.

I notice that the one I was struggling with is indeed a DVD (not that I noticed the huge letter that states this!) I was just able - I think - to successfully import a second (these come with books) and it opened immediately in Music. So that's wonderful!

I will snoop around for how to transfer a DVD. I didn't know all these detail so, again, thanks so very much. And yes, it is commercial as it comes with a book - I 100% respect the protections and ensuring people aren't sharing these around. The files are for me only just so I am not tethered to a desk to listen!
