Expanded and extended memory

I'm running a legacy DOS spreadsheet "CA Supercalc" on my windows 98 PC
with no problems. I would like to switch it to VPC 7 with XP on my Dual
G5 Powermac. On the PC the pif setting include XMS and EMS at 1024 and
all runs well with loads of memory. On the VPC if I change either or
both of the XMS or EMS settings from "none" I get an illegal error
notice as soon as Supercalc tries to use the memory and windows shuts
down the programme. Does anybody know how I should manage these
settings? Cheers

Because Windows XP doesn't run on DOS, you may find that old DOS applications may not work correctly on it, whether running on a genuine PC, or in VirtualPC.

DOSBox is one solution, but if you're already running VirtualPC, I'd recommend downloading FreeDOS instead, and breaking out the old DOS books on how to change config.sys, autoexec.bat, and other such delightful files in order to gain the most compatibility for your DOS application.
