Imac stand removable

I want to know if it’s possible to remove the Imac stand and put it later back on. Thanks in advance!

There have been quite a few iMac models. Which one do you have?

Some iMac models have been fairly easily removable, for instance:

Others such as the 24” (which is what the previous reply references) not so much.

Some iMac models (including the recent 24”) can also be ordered with a VESA mount adapter:

Does anyone have an idea how I can take it with me on the plane?

There are cases and bags that purport to make an iMac 24” more portable. Some claim airline approval.

But the stand isn’t coming off that 24” at all easily.

Given the stuff I’ve had disappear from my checked baggage over the years, a checked iMac wouldn’t be my choice.

Generally accepted carry-on luggage dimensions are 21x14x9 inches.

The 24" iMac dimensions are 21.5x18.1x5.8 inches. It's not likely to be acceptable to carry on an iMac in baggage or a case.

You could check an iMac as baggage. I wouldn't.

If you need to travel with a computer, your best option will be a MacBook or other laptop computer.

Another option could be a Mac mini with a small-ish monitor that could be carried on.

Otherwise... 🤷🏽‍♂️
