Worried about my lost apple watch in pending lost mode to get reset by the finder?

I lost my watch due to poor design of magnetic link strap that causes my watch falling off my wrist month ago, I activated lost mode shortly after it had fell while I could see its location, it didn’t get activated and lost mode has been pending with a lock symbol in find my since ever with no location found (since the watch lost its battery)…I’m worried that the finder can reset the phone to factory setting and start using that, is that possible?

No, the watch should be useless to anyone who finds it. Apple devices are under Activation Lock unless you remove the Lock yourself.

Activation Lock prevents lost or stolen devices from being used by others.
