apple won't let me open my own document

One of my associates sent me a document that I updated for my use. I was able to open it to edit it, but now my mac won't open it because it may have malware. Hopefully I can post my screen shot, but I really need this to be able to be opened and used to send to clients. It is our company document.

What you sent me worked, but I seem to have to do this for every document out of our office. Is there any way to approve our document so that I don't have to do this every time I try to open a new document? As mentioned, it is only when I set it to open in pages every time. Prior to that I can select open in Pages and it is fine, but when I change it to open in pages as default that this happens.
