Microphone icon does not show up for dictation
Additionally, the Start Dictation EDIT menu item does nothing.
I've tried restarting and updating. Any other ideas. I'm running Silicon and Sequoia.

So, at least for me, the answer is that Webroot Secure Anywhere anti-virus and anti-keylogging is the culprit. If I shut that down completely, voila, I get the mic icon.
So, the next question is what to do about it or what anti-virus to switch to?
