macOS Sequoia: WindowServer and powerd prevent sleep mode

According to Activity Monitor, two processes, namely powerd and window server, keep preventing sleep mode. I realise this is known problem. Entries on it date back three years, maybe longer. Maybe a solution has been found (since obviously none has been implemented) thus far?

Thanks

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

Thanks for Old Toad’s etrecheck instructions…

Looks like the two biggest problems are...

corespotlightd 94.60 % (Apple)

IMDPersistenceAgent 44.86 % (Apple)

If you quit the process from within the Activity Monitor, it may restart, but does it still use the same amount of CPU usage? We'd like you to try that with the following steps: Quit an app or process in the Activity Monitor on Mac

next...

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.

Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.

Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.

Select a volume.

Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.

The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Restart normally.

corespotlightd and IMDPersistenceAgent are both run by launchd, neither can be quit (or forced to quit) in Activity Monitor.

Problem persists both in Safe Mode and in a newly set up blank user account.

I'll erase the Mac and set it up anew to see if the problem persists then, and will report back once done. (This will take a moment, I'll have to create a backup first.)

Did all that, no change. Apple service is looking into the matter, we scheduled a call further down this week. (One remark: On a MacBook Pro I used for a while, I had the same scenario in Activity Monitor yet the Mac was way more sensitive, screen lit up on the least stir of mouse. The present Studio Mac does not, quite on the contrary I have to click around a bit to wake it up. So maybe it does go to sleep despite the explicit declaration of two processes preventing sleep?)
