Hi Adam,

Re: How does 'Ask to Buy' work for App Store purchases?

See how to: Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy - Apple Support

Eg: says: "If the family organizer approves the request and completes the purchase, the item automatically downloads to the child's device. If the family organizer declines the request, no purchase or download will take place. If a child redownloads a purchase, downloads a shared purchase, installs an update, or uses a redemption code, the family organizer won’t receive a request".

Apple requires a payment method is listed in your account for the first time you use the App Store or iTunes,

even if you only download free apps etc.

You may need to pay your Mom, as it seems the family organiser has to ok and complete any purchases.

Above linked article also says: "If a family member turns 18 and the family organizer turns off Ask to Buy,

the family organizer can't turn it on again".

If or when your Mom turns off "Ask to Buy" for you:

To accept the responsibility for your purchases, you would need a payment method on file in your Apple Account:

See below for what payment methods Apple can accept in your country or region:

and

Sorry I can't say for sure; none of your details are available for anyone here to check.

Another option: If you have set up to pay by the month for Apple Care, you may see if any payments have gone through after "Ask to Buy" was turned on.

Eg: Look in your payment history: View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support

says:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  3. A list of your recent purchases appears. If you're not sure what you've been charged for but you know the amount of the charge, search for the amount. If you're looking for information about older purchases, find your purchase history in Settings or Account Settings on your device.

Find out what to do if you can't find the item that you're looking for or if you find unexpected charges.

If you've purchased a subscription that you no longer want, you can cancel the subscription.

We are all Apple users, like yourself in the community, so we have no access to any of your details, or your Apple care situation.. You may have arranged to pay for Apple care before Ask to Buy was turned on?

You could try checking the current Apple Care coverage for your iPhone :

To do that, you need to enter the iPhone's serial number online:

See how to:

Find the serial number or IMEI on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

and

Enter serial number to: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

There you can see what info. is available to you.
