Clock app not working on my iPhone 14 after updating to iOS 18

My alarm clock on the built in clock app of iOS has always worked, it may have failed once or twice before and maybe over the span of a year. However, ever since I updated my phone to iOS 18 my alarm has stopped working, I have tried every setting, reset the phone, increased volume on both ringer and regular volume but it is still not going off. I have arrived late to work multiple times now and if this persists I will be put in the chopping block. I have tried creating a sleep cycle, having more alarms before and after my scheduled wake up time but still nothing. I don't know if this is something normal that has been happening to everyone or if it is an isolated case. In addition to that, I also don't even have a super old iPhone, I have the 14 with about a year of use.

ME TOO! I woke up an hour after my alarm and was late to work after updating. The notification was on my screen, but it never actually made a sound.

also to note, this has happened to me every time I update and then gets fixed a couple weeks after. It’s super weird and it cost me a hectic morning or two.

I have found a workaround for this. Turn off standby mode. I was late to work 3 days in a row, and being a computer programmer, I broke down the whole system and figured out that if standby mode is enabled, then it can put the phone into a resting state that will disable cell phone sounds completely until your phone detects motion. Well being you are sleeping, you don’t move around much so after your phone sits idle for a designated amount of time, it will go completely quiet as to not disturb your sleep. Turn standby mode off completely and your phone will start working again. You may not get the cool standby screen when your phone is charging anymore, but it will fix this issue.

I’ve spoke with a few people having this issue, it’s happened to me as well. Make sure that your volume buttons do not toggle the volume of your system. Only your media.

other than that, just get an alarm clock.

$1300 for a broken alarm clock ain’t worth the fuss. Besides, we all know Apple ain’t looking at this forum thinking we’re all exemplary citizens. They more than likely will shrug it off thinking we’re all lazy shmoozers.
