Access to account has been denied

Hello, I recently made an iCloud account for my dad so he could share his location with me via Find My. His location stopped updating so I was attempting to log into his account to see what was going on.

I confused his password with mine the first couple of tries. When I finally caught on and used the correct password, I kept getting "verification failed unknown error". I thought it was a glitch so I kept trying to input the password.

I then selected the "forgot password" to see if maybe this could fix the issue, but it instead locked the iCloud account. We received noticed that access to the account has been denied.

What do I need to do to access the account? We can't even sign out of the account on his phone.

My guess is that all those attempts triggered some security feature on Apple's system. You can contact Apple and see if this is reversible but it is also possible it is permanent.

Select from the presented options until you find a solution for your issue, or see if there is a chat or phone call contact method offered lower on the page (you sometimes have to narrow down the options multiple times before this is shown). If you do not see your issue, keep experimenting with any series of selections until you reach one that offers a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

If you cannot get back into the account, you can request Apple reset any devices signed in with that account. Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Check the requirements and steps at: Activation Lock support request - https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says, "Proof of ownership documentation is required," but does not detail what currently constitutes proof other than it “must include the product serial number, IMEI or MEID.” Apple may typically require the original receipt* issued by Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller. If Apple resets the device this will give you access to the device but won't restore access to the account used to lock it. There is nothing that can be done to expedite an Activation Lock request.
