You can update that Mac as far as Monterey, but no further.
How to download and install macOS - Apple Support
If you update to Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey, 32-bit applications will stop working, and iTunes will go away in favor of separate applications (Music, TV, Podcasts, Books, and iPhone/iPad/iPod management in the Finder).

It is unfortunate that you have only 4 GB of RAM. The RAM on that machine is soldered in and non-expandable. I'm not sure how well Big Sur and Monterey will run even basic applications with 4 GB of RAM. and you say that you want to run an AI application.
There's another issue. This one is a show-stopper.
I tried to find "AI Chat" in the App Store. By any chance, are you referring to a program called AI Chat Chatbot? That program is not compatible with your MacBook Air, and will not be compatible with your MacBook Air, even if you upgrade to Big Sur or Monterey. Its description includes the following information:
- "iPhone and iPad Apps"
- "Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS."
- "Mac: Requires macOS 11.0 and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later"
This is not a Mac application. It is an iPad one. Apple Silicon Macs have the ability to run apps that were designed for iPhones and iPads – if the app developer chooses to allow it. In this case, the app developer allows it – but has not verified that the app runs well on an Apple Silicon Mac (and might not have tested it on one at all).
Your Mac has an Intel chip (not an Apple Silicon one), and thus upgrading to macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or later will not be enough to let you run this app. You will just get a different error message when you try.
