This Mac was either not removed from an associated Apple Account by the seller, or is potentially lost or stolen.

Contact the seller of this Mac, and request that they remove the Mac from their Apple Account.

I understand you recently purchased a MacBook Air with the M1 chip. How recently did you purchase it? The reason for asking is that Apple stopped selling them a few months ago. My confusion arises from the fact you were apparently able to use it, up until now. What changed in those intervening months?

Do not create a new Apple ID. Use the same Apple ID you use for your iPhone. That is your Apple ID, and the same Apple ID you are using to log into this site (Apple Support Communities) or for using any other Apple product or service. If those credentials are no longer being accepted for that Mac, describe what is asking for them. I am concerned whatever is asking for them may be some phishing site, or something else attempting to defraud you.

Are you using the same Apple ID credentials that you used to log into this site? Presumably, they are identical, and you obviously logged into this site successfully.

Your question is a bit confusing since there have never been any M1 MacBooks, and the only new MacBook Air or MacBook Pro models have either the M2 or M3 chip. Apple hasn't used the M1 in about three years now. Can you explain this apparent discrepancy?

It’s MacBook Air basically and the issue is, when I'm trying to login here at System setting where we enter the Apple ID basically, it’s not accepting my credentials(which I use on my iPhone 15 pro), it’s showing invalid ID or Password, have tried multiple times but no luck. Please guide me in case I’m doing anything wrong, I don’t wanna create a new Apple ID here.

And at the time of reset it’s showing this message.

Status information will be available in 12 hours.
At that time, we will send instructions to the phone number you provided.

If you are signed in on a Mac or iOS device, you can reset your password immediately.“

Ok, now I am really confused. Did you initiate a request to Recover Your Apple Account?

When I’m trying to reset the password at my iPhone 15 pro it’s showing the similar message, not sure it’s normal or not.

Learn how to reset your password now...

You’ve mentioned that already, yes.

Is this a brand new iPhone from Apple or an authorized reseller, or is this a new-to-you iPhone?

Is the seller still available?
