changing size of subtitles in imovie

Hi community. I'm making a short film for an education al conference. We are using subtitles because the original interview is in Portuguese. I sometimes need to use both top and bottom row of the subtitles because of the conversation, but the format puts the top line larger than the bottom one and the fonts size adjustment for both lines is blanket out, as in you can't select it. Could you please advise me how to adjust the size or if there is a different subtitle format I should be using. Thank you.

Have you double-clicked the title either in the timeline or the Viewer?

If you have and the problem persists you could try deleting the preferences which is something you should try whenever iMovie behaves strangely for no apparent reason.

Hold down the Option and Command keys as you launch iMovie until a window appears asking if you want to delete the preferences.

Click the Delete button in the window.
