Word to PDF conversion problems

I am new to IOS but loving it. My one frustration is with document conversion. I have documents that I need to access but can't open them because the word system converts them to an unintelligible format. Can anyone help with this please?

These are international discussion communities and the term "word system" might mean something different depending on the individual, the application, and their locale. Stating MS Word would have been quite clear.

Since you want to avoid MS Word converting PDFs to .docx documents, you will want a means to view the PDF without Word touching it. Select the Apple File Manager and see the list of documents. Tap and hold on the PDF and a secondary menu will appear where you select Quick Look. That will allow you to view your PDF.

Alternatively, you could install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader from the iOS/iPadOS App Store. I did, but Quick Look may be all you need.

The word system converts them…? Are you using an installed and current version of Microsoft Word on iOS, the web-based Microsoft Word via a browser, or another word-processing application on iOS? Clarify, please.

Thanks for the response. I would have thought that "Word" would have been understood to mean "Microsoft® Word for Mac" It is the system plugged into IOS to make Microsoft office fuction.

The "Word" part of the program does not allow access to PDF documents unless covered to an editable word document. I dont want that as many of my documents that I copied over are PDF documents and unreadable due to the Word for Mac program automatically changing PDF to an editable word document. I trust this helps?
