resetting a 2012 Mac to factory settings without ID or password

I purchased a 2012 desktop Mac at an auction of the contents of a home of a woman who died. When i turn it on her name comes up and asks for her password. She is deceased and I cannot contact anyone from her family. I have a reciept of purchase from the auction company and I found a copy of her obituary in a local newspaper. I would like to erase the contents and reset it to factory standards but cannot log on. Please help.

You purchased a boat anchor. If the computer has not been prepared per the directions in What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support it will ALWAYS be associated with the previous owner. In short, there isn’t a thing you can do. Get your money back as the computer is 100% unusable!!!
