Apple Watch Ultra 2 Model A2987 Sold in Australia

I read a similar thread on the Apple Community in which a comment was made if the box says 'made in the USA'..it is a counterfeit. I don't think that this is correct.

It is definitely true that the A2987 is the Chinese Mainland model and the model sold here is the A2986, same as in the USA.

It is also true that some disreputable shops are selling these for $1100 brand new in Sydney. The Apple Store price is $1395 AUD.

I just wanted to clarify that I have more than once seen these boxes with 'made in the USA' on them with A2987 models and I don't believe that they are counterfeit.

I know that the A2987 is optimised for the Chinese mainland and isn't the right choice for Australia and people who buy these are potentially buying something that won't work as well. This example below is from FB Marketplace and is sold as 'with receipt and sealed'.

The label would never say >Made in US< The label would never say >Distributer: Apple Computer Trading Company LTD<.

What you’re showing in the image you posted, is not from Apple. What’s inside the box is unknown. But why go to the trouble of counterfeiting the box? It leads to the veracity of the product inside the box.

Hi Jeff:

I'm not so sure of what is 'supposed' to be and that is the question.

I'm surprised Apple hasn't stepped in to give a definitive answer. As far as I can tell the watches contained therein are not counterfeits themselves and work fine.

One thought is often these are sold in unopened boxes and not used but not always...hence the box itself could be counterfeit and the watches are simply second-hand off the Chinese Mainland market. In that case though the 'copy' of the case would be accurate.

It seems to be me, my opinion, that these are genuine boxes and watches and the wording on the Mainland Chinese and HK watches are simply different to ours. The problem is the watches being sold outside their intended market which could compromise the usability of the watch.
