Unwanted Alerts From Apple Watch At Night

I wear my Apple Watch at night for sleep tracking. I generally have to get up at night for a potty break and, if it is after Midnight, than each hour for the rest of the night my Watch alerts me to stand up so I can get my Stand credit for the hour. I guess because the Watch realizes it is a new day and I have not hit my Stand quota of hours.

Needless to say, each time the Watch alerts me to "Stand," it disrupts my sleep and wakes me up! So, I end up with a poor night's sleep. I tried silencing the Watch but the vibration alert is not silenced and, if silenced, I do not get an audible wake up alarm in the morning.

Can anything be done to stop these unwanted alerts, short of not getting up when nature calls?

I generally disabled this "Time to Stand" notification in the settings for Activities on the watch.

But, if you have set up a sleep Focus, you can silence notifications from certain apps during that time in the Focus settings.

Many thanks @Ingo2711 for directing me to this resource. It put me on the right path to resolve my problem and I am most grateful.

Here are the specifics of what I encountered and what I have done:

  • I went ahead and set up a Sleep Focus. Since the "Time to Stand" notifications are configured in the Watch app, I configured the Sleep Focus to silence notifications from my Watch during sleep. However, that did not work. In spite of this configuration, I still got the "Time to Stand" notifications throughout the night.
  • So, I have now gone ahead and just disabled the "Time to Stand" notification.

I cannot figure out why the configuration for the Sleep Focus did not work and would appreciate any tips on how to make it do what I want without my needing to completely disable the "Time to Stand" notifications. But, at least for the time being, I will not be disturbed by them at night when I am sleeping.

I am happy to report my success!

I added the Fitness app to my Sleep Focus configuration and that did the trick.

So, the way to resolve the problem of being awakened at night by the Stand Time notification is by doing a Sleep Focus configuration and putting both the Watch and the Fitness apps into it. This works and it does not obligate the user to have to completely eliminate the Stand Time notification.

Many thanks again, @Ingo2711 for all your kind help in enabling me to get this accomplished.

Thanks @Ingo2711

Very interesting........

Agree 100%, it is within the Fitness app that one views the Stand Time information.

But, the notification alert is managed within the Watch app, not the Fitness app.

Well, we know the "Stand Time" alert is not silenced via the inclusion of the Watch app in one's Sleep Focus configuration and it is an easy "experiment" to see if the addition of the Fitness app there will result in the unwanted alert being silenced at night.

I'll give it a try tonight and report back tomorrow.

Many thanks again!
