Where can I check the sync status to iCloud in Photos app?

iOS 18. Photos app. Where does it tell me the syncing status with iCloud?

I rely on this a lot. I take hundreds of photos at a job on my phone and I need to know if they’ve synced to the cloud and hence on my Mac when I get back to the office before starting my report.

Thanks, léonie (long time - no see, hope you are well)

I hadn't realised it wasn't reliable.

I usually take several hundred photos during a survey, but they don't immediately sync to the cloud because it pauses to save data. I generally return to the office (home, nowadays) and have to resume syncing once I'm on my Wi-Fi. Once this has been completed, I check that the Mac is then syncing the photos from the cloud. I usually have something to do before I need the images, by which time they've generally synced to the Mac.

I always check that the total number of photos on the phone and the Mac match, but I don't recall them ever not doing this.

The message "Synced right now" in the iCloud Status display on the Mac or on the iPhone does not guarantee, the original image files have been uploaded - it just means that iCloud has checked what need to be uploaded and compared it to iCloud.

I am always looking at the iCloud web page at www.icloud.com to see, if the originals have already arrived in iCloud.
