The original iPad, released by Apple nearly fifteen years ago, cannot run an i[Pad]OS version greater than 5.1.1, which was released 12½ years ago. A whole lot has changed since that time, including the introduction of two-factor authentication, which replaced two-step verification with the introduction of iOS 9. (The current iPadOS version is 18.0.1.)

Perhaps it’s time to consider replacing this iPad.

2FA has worked for me in the past, but this error just started happening recently. I wonder if apple moved to a new security system or something that old iPads don’t support. I have a newer iPad that works just fine, (although it only supports verision 16, so maybe i should upgrade that soon too) I just wanted to turn this one into a picture frame. But I guess this thing isn’t really useful for anything nowadays.
