Trying to use Notes to scan a document but can’t find the camera icon. New to iPhone 15 and have iSO 18

How can I access the Camera in Notes on iOS 18? Before I updated recently to iOS 18 on my iPhone 12 Pro, the camera icon would appear in the line above the keyboard when composing a note in the Notes app. After the update, the camera icon no longer appears. An Apple support agent was finally able to help. Now you have to click on the paper clip (attachment) icon above the keyboard. That opens a submenu on which the camera and scanning options appear.
