Sound in Google maps does not work if using public transportation option in iOS 18.0.1

Does anyone know how to get around the following problem:

iIn iOS 18.0.1, the audio instructions does not work when choosing the option for public transportation. By contrast, it does work for the option for walking. I've tried turning on and off the audio in the app and in the settings for my iPhone. I also deleted and reinstalled the app, The problem persists.

Please note I posted this question already, but Apple deleted it because of a typo in my original question about the version of iOS I am using. The version I'm using is iOS 18.0.2, so Apple iOS please do not delete this message. I'm NOT a beta tester of some new version of iOS. I

18.0.2 is not publicly released yet so if you’re sure that is what you are currently on then that means you are using a Beta version. The current public version is 18.0.1. Also, have you tried getting app support from the developer (Google) on this? They would be the ones that would need to address any issues. Make sure you have updated the app to the latest version that was released today 6.137.1
