Screen Sharing: highlight the screen at the pointer in Observe Mode does not work anymore

Hello everyone,

In Sonoma and before, when using Screen Sharing with another Mac (e.g. via FaceTime, to help relatives with their Mac) it would offer 2 modes: Observe (letting you observe and highlight parts of the remote screen at your pointer's position) and Control (letting you control remote screen). In Sequoia these 2 modes are still there, but the Observe Mode does not let you highlight parts of the remote screen, which is a shame as a new feature of iOS 18 is precisely to bring that feature to iOS devices... So now it works on iOS between iPhones/iPads but not macOS anymore...

I checked the official help page for Screen Sharing app and it still says the following: "Switch to Observe Mode or Request Control Mode: In Observe mode, you can watch what’s happening on the shared screen, but you can’t control the pointer, move windows, open and close documents or do other tasks. If you’re observing OS X 10.9 or later, you can click and hold to highlight the screen at your pointer. In Control Mode, you control the shared screen." ( Share the screen of another Mac – Apple Support (UK) ) so technically it should still work...

Does it work for you?
