Battery maximum capacity is going down

Hello, I bought my regular iPhone 15 back in December of 2023. Everything was going smoothly, until a week before iOS 18 came out I noticed my maximum capacity went from 100% to 99%. Right now my battery maximum capacity is 96% and my cycle count is 217. My question is this normal or abnormal? I’m sorry for asking such a silly question. I had an iPhone X ever since 2017 and upgraded in December. I’m still confused by the cycle count and I can’t seem to comprehend it. Thank you so much

Your battery is perfectly fine. Your iPhone battery health is expected to drop about 1% a month or 25 charge cycles, and the decline isn’t linear. Meaning some months you may lose more than expected, or none at all.

After roughly 217 charge cycles, you should be at around 91% battery health. So you are ahead of your battery.

When your battery health reaches 80% or below, have the battery replaced.

You are actually doing far better than average. Battery Health will always go down as batteries chemically age with time and cycle count. The iPhone 15 is expected to last 1000 cycle before reaching 80% Battery Health. Once it drops below 80%, it will be time for a replacement. Keep doing what you are doing, as it is working for you. In most cases it is best to just make sure you are using Optimized Charging and charge your phone every night.
