Is it OK to install/update to Sequoia from Big Sur? Have MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

I am currently running Big Sur 11.7.1 - Is it OK to install/update to Sequoia? Have MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

I have read that it is recommended not to update to a newer OS unless you have the most current update (Monterey, ventura, sonoma)?

This computer Qualifies to run macOS 12 Monterey, macOS 13 Ventura, macOS 14 Sonoma and Yes macOS 15 Sequoia

I do not know were you are reading about having to do a gradual upgrade before moving to macOS 15 Sequoia

Apple designed this M1 MBA.

They designed and built all the previously versions of macOS previously mentioned, to work and function on any of these versions of macOS

Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.

It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) or ( 14.xx GB for macOS 15 Sequoia ) to download, then expand and then commence to install.

If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.

It will interfere with both the download and installation process.

Always make a Time Machine Backup  before doing any upDates / upGrades

macOS Sequoia compatible Computers

macOS Sonoma is compatible with these computers

Computer Qualifying for macOS 13 Ventura
