Apache Open Office for Mac

Recently my wife purchased a MacBook Air running macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 and we cannot open the Apache Open Office application (this application works on my iMac running macOS Ventura 13.7).

Sequoia

On trying to open the app a notification appears OpenOffice not Opened with 2 option buttons Done & Move to Bin.

On clicking Done this window closes and the user can go to System Settings Privacy & under Security it states OpenOffice was blocked to protect your Mac. A button Open Anyway is also displayed.

On clicking Open Anyway another window opens with 3 buttons Move to Bin, Open Anyway and Done and on clicking either Open Anyway or Done the app doesn't launch.

Please assist with using Apache Open Office on a MacBook Air running Sequoia 15.0.1

Apache OpenOffice (AOO) is a productivity suite which is already officially available for the following platforms:

  • Windows - XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 (32-bit)
  • Linux - RPM / DEB-based (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • macOS (Intel) - 10.4 (Tiger) up to 15 (Sequoia)
  • macOS (ARM) - 11 (Big Sur) up to 15 (Sequoia) via emulation (Rosetta 2)

Try touching the Application icon and Command i ( eye )

Check the Kind

Does it say Intel or Universal "

If you believe this version should work in Sequoia

Try checking "" Open with Rosetta "

Then Test if it will open and function as expected

Otherwise, follow the advise from @BobTheFisherman
