How to Delete Recently Closed Tabs in Safari on iPhone

Answering to this message :

When I go to open a new tab in Safari on iPhone I press and hold the + in the lower left-hand corner, a long list pops up with all of my recently closed taps. Many of these tabs are not recent. How do I delete these?

What worked for me was messing around with Profiles in Safari in the phone Settings. I created a new profile so I had the default one and a new one. I cleared all Safari history and cache, then the recently closed tabs were finally all gone.

After that I deleted the new profile and all was good, no more recently closed tabs.
