The new, unpacked airpods pro 2 headphones have been lying idle for almost two years. How seriously can this affect battery life? Could the batteries have lost their maximum capacity?

If the batteries drained completely and they've been sitting with no charge on them for a long time, they may have significantly decreased capacity or may not charge at all. But you won't know until you plug them in and see what happens.

If they are accepting a charge, your issue is unlikely to be battery related. Two or three weeks is not enough to do much damage to the battery.

A mi me pasó algo Parecido, pero son AirPods 3, los dejé de usar como por 2 semanas o casi 3 y ahora solo se escucha en un solo AirPod y no sé porqué, aún no tengo la solución 😥😥, con el AirPod que no se escucha si me deja pausar canciones colgar llamadas etc solo no me da sonido 😿😿
